With the vision to create more recreational activities to the area, Gautier city leaders are drawing up plans for the new town commons project.
This dream is becoming a reality due to the city owning 33 acres of land where the Singing River Mall property used to be. Town commons opens the door for opportunities like pickle ball, an amphitheater, a lake for kayaking, and other recreational activities.
Gautier Mayor Phil Torjusen tells News 25 he is excited for the impact the project will have on the city. “That’ll spark more of our town center right there in Gautier. It’ll create activity. What it will ultimately do is bring some retail in there with all kinds of retail stores, restaurants, more into the town center area.”
The funding for the first phase of this three phase project is already accounted for.
Mayor Torjusen tells News 25 the council will vote on Seymour Engineering’s presentation of layout plans and you can see construction take place shortly after.
