Up at Harrison Central, a pair of baseball standouts putting pen to paper, both with Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
Third baseman Chaseton Lawton and catcher Kyle Howell are going from Red Rebels to Bulldogs as a package deal coming off their second place finish in Region 8 Class 6A.
Surrounded by family, friends, coaches, and teammates this afternoon, the Harrison Central duo is ready to stay 90 feet away at the next level. Lawton said, “Once it got closer to the end of the season, it hit me a little bit. It’s like it’s closer to home and it felt like more of a family to me, so I heard my teammate was going and I kind of wanted to go, too.”
Howell said, “I’m just very thankful that all of the work I’ve put in in the past year has paid off and hard work just finally pays off. I’m very blessed to be able to have the opportunity to go to the next level and be able to continue to play baseball.”
Lawton and Howell will be joining fellow teammate P.J. Harrison when they make their way up to Perk.
