This weekend’s weather didn’t stop Audubon of Mississippi from educating the Gulf Coast.
The second annual Tern Fest was hosted at Jones Park on Saturday. The event focuses on education of the environment and conservation.
Vendors from various wildlife groups were stationed at the fest, giving attendees a first-hand look at the nature that Mississippi offers.
Melinda Averhart with Audubon tells News 25 that teaching residents about conservation is vital to our Coast. “So, Mississippi, I think, it’s kind of a hidden secret on the Gulf Coast and we have some of the largest lease-tern colonies in the country. It’s a really beautiful area and we just want to celebrate everything that it has to offer.’
