One of the largest fundraisers on the Gulf Coast wrapped up over the weekend.
The Jolly McCarty Memorial ended on Saturday with two golf shotgun events at Shell Landing Golf Club. The fundraiser has continued to grow over the past 15 years, bringing in more participants each year.
Over $400,000 was raised for this year’s event to be given to the Bacot McCarty Foundation which provides scholarship funds across the state.
Executive Director Todd Trenchard tells News 25 that the support they’ve received for the event has made it what it is today. “It’s actually grown into the largest golfing fundraiser in the county’s history, having raised millions and millions of dollars over the years. It’s made the Bacot McCarty Foundation kind of a household word and we’ve just had the privilege of helping bring our community together through a simple idea years ago.”
