High School Softball: Vancleave vs. Northeast Jones

When it comes to the top high school softball programs from around the Gulf Coast, don’t leave out Vancleave. The Lady Bulldogs have been going off in 2019, outscoring opponents 180 to 62 across an overall record of 22-2 coming into tonight’s second round game versus Northeast Jones.

Lady Bulldogs win 1-0. Head Softball Coach Donna Bragg said, “For her, it is another day at the office, but the reason it is is because everyday she’s at the office.”

Pitcher Avery Johnston said, “I think it is heart. We have a good team that forms together that comes together as a team.”

Catcher Sarah Vice said, “We always come out here to fight and I just love the team that comes out here and fights. That’s what we did.”

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to West Lauderdale for game one on Friday with games two and three, if necessary, at Vancleave at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday.

A native of Pass Christian and a St. Stanislaus alum, Jeff Haeger comes to News 25 from right in our backyard.
