Today a dozen Coast teachers were honored in a big way for their innovative ideas.
For the 23rd year, Hancock Whitney and the Gulf Coast Community Foundation hosted their annual Leo W. Seal Recognition luncheon for local teachers with creative and innovative ideas in the classroom.
Twelve teachers from across Southern Mississippi were given grants of up to $2,000 to help fund their innovative classroom ideas.
Many of the teachers at the luncheon today were very excited about this opportunity. Chelsea Fortenberry with Popp’s Ferry Elementary School said, “I was really excited when we got the email. I ran to the front office and I was like ‘oh my gosh, I got it.’ and they all jumped up so it was a big celebration in the office and with my team and I actually have a team member here with me today celebrating.”
