Under the NFL salary cap, everyone has a price and sometimes that price gets a little too high. After spending his first eight seasons with the Saints, Mark Ingram is about to make more money than he’s ever made in his life, but it probably won’t be in New Orleans.
According to multiple reports, contract negotiations between the Saints and Ingram broke down Tuesday morning. Plan B is former Minnesota Vikings running back Latavius Murray, who has reportedly agreed to terms with the Black and Gold on a four year 14.4 million dollar deal.
Per the Times-Picayune, the Baltimore Ravens have emerged as the front runner to sign Ingram when league free agency opens at 3 p.m. tomorrow.
Some believe there’s still a chance Ingram returns to New Orleans, but more than likely the days of ‘boom and zoom’ and ski masks during the post-game interviews are over.
If they are, Ingram leaves New Orleans as the team’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns and second in rushing yards behind only Deuce McAllister.
