The second annual Zebra Run for Rare Disease takes place tomorrow morning in Ocean Springs.
All proceeds from the run benefit the United MSD Foundation which helps fight multiple sulfatase deficiency, one of the rarest diseases in the world.
Registration opens up at 7 a.m. at Fort Maurepas with the 5K getting underway at 8 a.m. Following the 5K, a one mile fun run will take place.
Amber Olsen, whose daughter Willow has the disease, tells News 25 that she just wants people to understand the seriousness of MSD. “Basically her body is breaking down, kind of like Alzheimer’s and cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis, muscular dystrophy. We are using the funding, the fundraising to fund a treatment for the first ever clinical trial for her disease.”
