If the excitement for the return of Biloxi Shuckers baseball isn’t enough, their 2018 home debut comes on the heels of a four game winning streak in Montgomery.
Tonight, the Double AA affiliate of the Milwaukee Brewers was back on the Gulf Coast, leading off its fourth season in Biloxi with the first of a five game set against the Mississippi Braves.
Five in a row for the Biloxi Shuckers as they pitch a 2-0 shutout to get the ball rolling at MGM Park in 2018.
Here’s what Shuckers Manager Mike Guerrero and one of his new players had to say prior to first pitch about what it means to be part of the fourth opening day for the Biloxi Shuckers here on the Coast. “Baseball, in reality, if you don’t have those butterflies the first days, you’re missing something. It’s just a beautiful thing to go out there, every year is different and every year try to have new hopes,” said Guerrero.
Shuckers Shortstop Jake Hager said, “Any opening day is amazing, I mean even if you’re rookie ball, opening day is a great day. Everyone looks forward to it, especially your home opener. This is my first one here, so I’m really excited about that. I mean this city is awesome.”
The Shuckers return to action tomorrow with another 6:35 p.m. start time against the M-Braves. Gulfport High School shortstop Gabe Lacy will be throwing out the first pitch.
