2017 Crawfish Fest Wraps Up With Rain
Another Crawfish Music Festival is in the books. The 25th annual event ended on a soggy note, but as News 25’s Hank Davis reports.. A little water didn’t put a damper on the festivities.
The 25th Annual Crawfish Music Festival at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum wrapped up this weekend under cloudy skies, but even with the weather temporarily halting carnival rides and planned events.. Plenty of people were still turning up to taste the festival’s namesake, and a gulf coast tradition… Boiled crawfish, provided on-site by quality seafood,
“I believe people love crawfish just because it’s a southern style food.. You can only find it here along the gulf coast and the crawfish festival this year was absolutely amazing.. We went through 9000 pounds of crawfish.. Even though its raining today, we still had a great two weekends.”

“Even all the wet and windy weather, you still couldn’t stop the good times at this year’s Crawfish Festival, dez caught it.”

Although conditions during the final day of the festival drove people indoors, the fun only took a temporary time out before getting started up again.
“We’ve got a big roof on that arena and we can put the talent in there, so the shows will play and they always will play here rain or shine, we don’t cancel this event. Now if I have absolute imminent danger, we’ll shut it down and bring everybody inside.. When it passes, we’ll start it back up. Overall, the 8 day run will be successful for us, just not quite as successful because when you lose a full day and pretty much that’s what’s going to happen to us today, it take a little bit of your profit. But we’ll be back next year bigger and better.”
