Hopson Officailly Takes Over At USM
The man tasked with taking USM Golden Eagle football to the next level was officially announced yesterday.
Former Alcorn State head coach Jay Hopson was announced as USM’s new head coach during a press conference on Monday afternoon.
Hopson will try to fill the shoes of Todd Monken who left the golden eagles to be the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Bucs.
In his four years at Alcorn State, USM’s new ball coach was 32 and 17, including 28-10 the past three.
Leading Alcorn State to back-to-back Southwestern Conference Championships.
Hopson is no stranger to Hattiesburg, he coached their defensive backs from 01 to 03 and was defensive coordinator from 05 to 07.
Booker Competing NBA 3 Point Contest
Former Moss Point and current Phoenix Suns star Devin Booker will be taking his sharp shooting ways to NBA all-star weekend.
Booker will be participating in the foot locker three point contest.
When it comes to rookies, booker is leading the pack when shooting behind the arc.
He’s 41 point 7 percent from three and will be only the fourth rookie ever to enter the contest.
N-b-a all-star weekend will be next weekend in Toronto the 3 point contest will be Saturday night.
