19th annual Red, White, and Blueberry Festival in Ocean Springs
Saturday was the day to eat all things blueberry and support local farmers for the Red, White, and Blueberry Festival in Downtown Ocean Springs.
The Ocean Springs Main Street Association in partnership with the Ocean Springs Fresh Market hosted the annual event where over 30 vendors of all kinds were on site.
A staple of the fest is the free vanilla ice cream for eventgoers on the house by Kilwin’s Ice Cream Creamery with blueberries and strawberries to top it off.
Organizers say the festival is meant to highlight the Ocean Springs Fresh Market.
Local vendors share more on the festival and the importance of the blueberry. Terry Meyer with Berry Berry Good Farm in Saucier said, “The Vitamin C and also your nerve health. So, if you want to boost up your immune system have some blueberries today. “
Gavin Deakle with Deakle Farms in Grand Bay, Alabama said, “Here selling our veggies like we do 45 Saturday mornings a year. This is our seventh year doing that. Built up this clientele and they just keep coming and coming. They’re just all special people here in Ocean Springs.”
The Ocean Springs Fresh Market is open every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.in Downtown Ocean Springs.
