19th annual Dream Golf Tournament
BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- Saturday was a beautiful day at the golf course.
The Gulf Coast Dream Program took advantage of the sunny day by hosting their 19th annual Charity Golf Tournament.
The Dream Program was founded to serve and enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities across the Mississippi Gulf Coast and surrounding areas.
They provide over 20 different activities for over 500 registered athletes free of charge.
Due to the Dream Program not being affiliated with any state or national organizations, this charity golf tournament is their biggest push to keep making the Dream Program possible and it takes a ton of volunteers and businesses to make it a success. Dream Executive Director said, “It’s a good day for us. There are a lot of comradery and people getting to know more about each other and we’ve had three new athletes that showed up today that we just met last week, so we’re very excited about getting that exposure in the neighborhood and if people have someone in mind with a disability, they need to send them to us.”
Kelsi Dungan said, “I’ve done the Dream Program for about 20 years. My favorite part is meeting new people and making new friends and having fun with them and having a great turnout.”
Planet Fitness District Manager Natalie Kirk said, “I’ve hired a couple athletes from the Dream Program about seven years ago and they’ve been working at our Planet Fitness in Pascagoula. We love the Dream Program, so this is our second year helping with the golf tournament. Special needs foundations are really special to my heart and I love these guys. They just make life so much better, so we’re here to help however we can.”
