1964 Ford Fairlane 500

The Crusin fun isn’t limited to just those visiting. The Gulfport police department had a 1964 Ford Fairlane 500 redone to show off and add to their fleet this week.

Gulfport police Chief Leonard Papania tells News 25 the car has been sitting in the shop for a little over a year now, and they have been working on it slowly.

The wind shield which was the last piece to finish off the car was sitting in Missouri two days ago, but the team worked hard and it all came together quickly.

The police are also handing out what they call "Uniform Cruiser Citations" which have maps of Gulfport, good restaurants to eat at, and even coupons.

"We actually purchased the car about a year ago and we’ve at it at our shop working a little bit at a time to get it ready. Gulfport’s had a long time participation in Crusin’ the Coast and we wanted to take it to that next step and get a car for our police department." Chief Leonard Papania told News 25.
