18-year-old arrested, charged with homicide in death at Gulfport apartment complex

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- An 18-year-old is behind bars, charged with homicide in connection to an investigation at a Gulfport apartment complex where an 18-year-old man was found dead in a car in February.

On March 8, Ulrick Lamont Ellis of Gulfport was arrested and charged with one count of homicide.

On February 13, the Gulfport Police Department responded to a welfare check at Stonegate Apartments. Upon arrival, they found Rogeick Cohea III dead inside a vehicle outside the complex.

During the course of the investigation, Ellis was identified as the suspect. Detectives determined that Ellis killed Cohea during a robbery that went wrong.

Ellis was located Sunday with help from Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Capitol police. Ellis barricaded himself and was eventually forced out after officers deployed CS gas.
