18-wheeler overturns on I-10 in Harrison County on Saturday

An investigation is underway into the cause of a weekend accident that shut down traffic for a time on I-10 in Harrison County.

Around 9 Saturday night, a semi-truck going eastbound on I-10 was approaching the County Farm Road/ Long Beach exit when it jumped the median and crashed into the westbound lanes.

The truck overturned, blocking all lanes of traffic for more than two hours Saturday night. The driver of the 18-wheeler sustained minor injuries. Fire Chief Pat Sullivan said, “Fortunately, the truck did not strike any of the other vehicles that were traveling westbound when it crossed over. It did overturn, which stopped all traffic in the westbound lanes.”

Mississippi Highway Patrol is handling the investigation into the accident.
