17th annual Pet Therapy Graduation
Visiting Pet Teams of South Mississippi introduced its newest and re-registered pet therapy dog teams.
More than a dozen dogs went parading down the aisle with their handlers to receive their caps and bandanas at the 17th annual Pet Therapy Graduation.
These furry graduates will now be providing therapy and emotional support to those in need across South Mississippi.
Handlers received Presidential awards based on how many hours they’ve dedicated to service.
Presidential Award Winner Mary Pecoul says providing pet therapy is her life’s calling. “It’s just a life long dream that I’ve had, that I’ve wanted to do since I was a little girl. We go to hospitals, nursing homes, hospice. We have a library program where the kids read to the dog. So, we spread love and joy every day.”
Pecoul received a letter from President Biden for her more than 10,000 hours of pet therapy service.
