17th annual Lizana Mardi Gras Parade

Members of one local community brought the carnival spirit out in full force on Saturday.

Floats, horses, and a countless number of ATV’s made up the 17th annual Lizana Mardi Gras Parade.

Parade-goers also had the chance to say hello to Grand Marshal Harry Babin as well as Little Miss and Mr. Lizana.

Each float was decked out in a unique theme and the Lizana Carnival Association handed out prizes to the most creative ones in the bunch.

Aundrea Ladner with the Lizana Carnival Association says the parade is a family tradition. “My dad started Mardi Gras when I was very young. It’s been instilled in me my whole life. So, he began Mardi Gras, started having his own float and so it really means a lot to me. Now my kids are growing into it as well.”

The parade began at Lizana Elementary then followed a route through the community and concluded back at the school.
