17-year-old killed in car crash on Highway 57

On 8-16-2018, The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigated a fatal crash in George County that occurred on Highway 57, near Beatline Road, at approximately 7:00am, which claimed the life of one woman.

Upon arriving it appeared a 2007 Pontiac G5 driven by Emma A. McDaniel, a 17 year old female of Mclain, MS was traveling south on Highway 57 when she lost control of her vehicle and went off of the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.

McDaniel was pronounced dead on scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The front passenger (brother of the driver), an 11 year old white male, was flown by life flight to University of South Alabama Medical Center with serious injuries. Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing seatbelts.
