17-year-old arrested, police searching for another suspect in connection to Gulfport shooting
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A 17-year-old is behind bars and Gulfport police are now searching for another man in connection to an early June drive-by shooting.
The shooting happened on June 7 at the Big Boy Store on Dedeaux Road.
Twenty-one-year-old Richard Smith Jr. is wanted on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault.
An argument inside the store escalated after a teenager accidentally bumped Smith with a door. Detectives say Smith then pulled a gun and demanded the teen turn over his gun.
As the victim ran from the scene, the 17-year-old suspect allegedly got into their vehicle and stole several items.
Smith should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Gulfport Police.
