16th annual Walking on Water to raise awareness for hunger and homelessness
Coast Young Professionals is hosting their 16th annual Walking on Water event to raise awareness for hunger and homelessness in the Gulf Coast region.
It’s an event where the community joins to walk on the Ocean Springs Biloxi Bridge. Participants can walk with teams or as an individual with the organization.
This will also benefit Feeding the Gulf Coast, a local organization that provides food for those in need.
Last year, the walk raised more than $5,000 for Feeding the Gulf Coast. So, this year, CYP hopes to raise more.
The bridge walk will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Food and money donations can be made at the event. Coast Young Professionals Director Kelly Devine said, “It’s really impactful. I lived on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for five years. I moved down here to work for Back Bay Mission, who works with the homeless and low-income families here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. So, it changed my life. Just working with organizations like that, working with places like Feeding the Gulf Coast that can provide that very much needed service to our community is ridiculously impactful for me.”
If you can’t make the walk, you can donate online at give.feedingthegulfcoast.org.
