Trauma patient care can save lives and Wednesday the ones on the front lines gathered on the coast to learn from each other.
The 16th Annual Mississippi Coastal Trauma Care Symposium took over the I-P Casino starting Wednesday.
The symposium puts everyone from flight nurses to physicians in the same room.
Symposium organizers hope these healthcare officials will network while also listening to speakers shine light on important topics.
Important topics like the role they play in stopping human trafficking.
“The victims are coming in and out of and not being recognized and not being assisted. So my goal is to begin training and raising awareness and then having hospitals discover protocols on how to respond to these victims when they do come into their emergency departments.”
– Jeff Barrows Trains Healthcare Officials On Sex Trafficking
“Our systems grow, but the process of caring for an individual just takes continued education and effort for people to get better at it.”
– Dr. Pete Avara, president of Coastal Trauma Region Board of Directors
