16-year-old dies in shooting at Gables Apartments

The Harrison County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of a shooting at the Gables Apartments on 32nd Street in Gulfport that happened Sunday afternoon.

The Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 16-year-old Kamori Lake. The girl was pregnant and had found out just a few days earlier that she was carrying a boy.

Lake was taken to Memorial Hospital at Gulfport about 1:10 p.m. in a personal vehicle, suffering from a gunshot to the head. She died at the hospital.

The baby also did not survive.

Gulfport Police is investigating the shooting as a homicide.
