155th ABCT Change of Command Ceremony

The largest unit in the Mississippi National Guard now has a new leader.

Colonel Robert Ferguson handed over command of the 155th Armored Brigade Combat Team to Colonel Jason Nelson yesterday in a ceremony held at the Mississippi Coast Convention Center. The Brigade recently returned from a nine-month deployment as part of ‘Operation Spartan Shield’ in the Middle East.

Colonel Nelson will now lead around 4,000 National Guard soldiers as part of the unit. “The greatest responsibility any commander has is leading soldiers. We just, you know, everything just revolves around them and everything we do is for them and so again, I can’t say thank you enough to all of them for everything they do.”

The Brigade is headquartered in Tupelo and features National Guard members from all across the state.
