15-year-old arrested for bringing loaded handgun to Harrison Central High
On Friday, August 5th, 2022, Sheriff Troy Peterson announced the arrest of a 15-year-old juvenile for possession of a weapon on school property.
According to Sheriff Troy Peterson, a Harrison County Sheriff’s Office School Resource Deputy assigned to Harrison Central High School received a tip from a teacher that a student was carrying a gun on campus.
The teacher provided the students name to the school resource deputy who immediately located the student at the school.
A search of the student was conducted and the deputy found a loaded handgun in his waistband. During the investigation, the student stated that he had brought the handgun for his protection from another student.
The juvenile was charged as an adult and booked into the Harrison County Adult Detention Facility charged with possession of weapon on school property. The juvenile is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond set by Justice Court Judge Brandon Ladner pending his initial court appearance.
