14th annual Mississippi Power BEAM Event
More than 100 juniors and seniors attended the 14th annual Blacks in Energy Awareness Month program at the Mississippi Power Operation Center in Gulfport this morning.
Mississippi Power partnered with the Gulf Coast chapter of the American Association of Blacks in Energy to help expose minority students from all across South Mississippi to career opportunities within the energy industry.
They learned in-depth about energy careers and personal development skills. Pass Christian High senior Jalyn Anderson said, “Honestly there’s not one specific thing that I’m excited about learning about. I’m excited to learn about everything that has to do with this. I want to know just about everything. I kind of want to be like a sponge and absorb all of this information and content that I can. We cannot ignore the minority just because they are the minority so this is why that is super important.”
