Traffic changes made for Peter Anderson Festival in Ocean Springs
This weekend Downtown Ocean Springs will be busier than usual as it hosts the 42nd annual Peter Anderson Festival Saturday and Sunday.
In order to accommodate the festival, its vendors, and the safety of all attendees there, several roads will be closed throughout the city.
Some of the major traffic changes include the closing of Washington Avenue from Bienville Boulevard to Calhoun Street and Government Street from Washington to Magnolia Street and a portion of Porter Avenue.
With much of downtown closed off to vehicles, parking may be difficult. Cynthia Sutton with the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce said, “We also have not a lot of parking in Downtown. So, this festival is an open-air, outdoor festival. So, we want everybody to park and walk to the entrances. Normally, we have a little bit of public transportation to help people get to the entrance, but because of this unique year, to kinda eliminate some of the crowding, we are going to ask people to park and walk. So, we have a couple of parking areas, Oak Park and Upper Elementary right on Government Street that people can park at and then walk to the entrance of the festival.”
Road closures will begin at 3 a.m. Saturday and stay closed until 7 p.m. Sunday.
