Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at your extended forecast

Clouds will increase overnight, with mild lows in the lower 60s. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday for Jackson, Harrison, Hancock and Pearl River Counties, with visibility dropping to a quarter mile or less in spots. Don’t forget to slow down, use low beams, and give yourself a little extra time during the morning commute.

After the fog dissipates Friday morning, expect a mix of sun and clouds along with scattered showers and thunderstorms through midday. Highs will reach the upper 70s before a few lingering showers taper off Friday night.

The weekend starts out warm, with highs in the upper 70s on Saturday and just a slight chance of a few showers late. A strong cold front moves in Sunday, bringing sunshine, breezy north winds, and a sharp drop in temperatures, with highs only reaching the low 70s and lows dipping to near 40 by Monday morning.

Monday will be sunny but much cooler, with highs only in the mid-50s and a brisk north wind making it feel even colder outside. Widespread frost is expected by Tuesday morning, as well as the potential for freezing conditions.

Temperatures will gradually rebound by midweek, with highs returning to the 70s on Wednesday and Thursday.
