108 pints of blood collected at Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive
People throughout South Mississippi answered the call, honoring the life of a fallen Biloxi police officer while possibly saving a few lives in the process.
In all, 108 pints of blood were collected at the first-ever Robert McKeithen Memorial Blood Drive earlier this week, far exceeding the goal set for blood collection at the event.
The blood drive was sponsored by Vitalant Blood Bank, the Biloxi Police Department, and Biloxi Police Chief John Miller.
Vitalant leaders say the donations will help ease the severely critical shortage of blood in the wake of COVID challenges.
The Robert McKeithen Memorial Drive is slated to become an annual event every March 6th to honor the Biloxi police officer and his legacy.
