104th annual Jackson County Blue Ribbon Fair returns
JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- The Jackson County Blue Ribbon Fair is back in Pascagoula for another year of rides, live entertainment, and family favorites.
Now in its 104th year, the fair has a full line up of activities ahead.
Day two brought plenty of action to the fairgrounds as vendors filled the civic center, livestock competitions got underway in the barn, and cooks put their recipes to the test in a gumbo competition.
Outside, food trucks served up fair favorites while amusement rides kept fairgoers entertained into the night with $25 armbands for unlimited rides available throughout the week. Fair Association President Dawn Jones said, “The fairgrounds was packed after 4pm, so we had a very good opening day. The food trucks that were able to open yesterday did fantastic! It is amazing. Kids will squeal on the rides because they’re having so much fun and that’s just music to our ears, hearing the kids laugh. That’s what we want to do, it’s just a good time to see things we haven’t seen before and ride rides you haven’t ridden before. You just get to see what other people in Jackson County do.”
This year also brought a change to the fair’s schedule, with additional armband nights replacing the traditional Friday late-night special, giving families more opportunities to enjoy the rides while supporting local businesses. Jackson County resident Phylisha Davison said, “I’m excited for the community to actually come out here. I have a 4-year-old daughter and she would love to come out here. Plus, they have new rides, new food stands, and I’m excited. I hope everything turns out how it’s supposed to and let’s party!”
The fun is far from over with a full week of events including Family Night Tuesday, Old Settler’s Day Thursday, and a band competition on Friday. Plus, Saturday features the livestock show and auction.
