10/06 Ryan’s Thursday Night Forecast

Thursday night will be clearer than the afternoon, but still warmer and humid. That changes soon enough though as a dry cold front will pass over the area Saturday night, bringing slightly below average temperatures to start off next week. Before that, we’ll see gradual warming continue into tomorrow, bringing daytime highs near 90 in along the waterfront with warmer temps inland. Expect mostly clear and sunny conditions to last through this holiday weekend and deep into next week.

Hurricane Matthew is just moving out of the Bahamas and setting it sights for the Eastern Florida coastline near Orlando. The forecast cone has been moving more towards the West, meaning the hurricane force winds will be felt deep inland, causing even more damage. The eye is expected not to stray too far from the coastline but looks like it will be affecting the inland areas of the Georgia and South Carolina Coastline through Friday and Saturday. The storm then gets caught up in the frontal system pushing through the Southeast and takes a sharp eastward, and eventually a southward turn by Monday. It’s at this point the forecast becomes worrisome as atmospheric conditions look likely that a second Florida landfall is possible by next Wednesday. The storm could also move across Florida into the Gulf or even continue heading East into the central Atlantic altogether. We’ll add more clairity to the forecast in the coming days, but it is still too early to get complacent in our Hurricane preparedness. There’s still plenty of hurricane season left…
