$100,000 Made from City Auction

The City of Biloxi’s general fund is now more than $100,000 higher, thanks to the city auction over the weekend.
Over 500 surplus, stolen and seized items from vehicles, jewelry, tools, bikes and more were auctioned off. Around 200 people came to the Biloxi Impound Yard off Popp’s Ferry Road Saturday. All items were sold as is, no guarantees or warranties.
The City of Biloxi does these auctions every couple of years and spokesperson Vincent Creel tells News 25 the money made goes straight into the city’s saving account. “The city will have that money as a financial cushion. When you look at the big picture, the City of Biloxi has about a $55 million budget a year, so $100,000 isn’t going to move the needle but we were able to rid ourselves of a bunch of material that we no longer need.”
Creel tells News 25 bidders walked away with huge deals. Long time auctioneer Nick Clark conducted the auction.
