10/16 – Brittany’s “Approaching Cold Front” Sunday Night Forecast

Zonal flow will continue to dominate the upper level pattern tonight. Southerly surface winds will continue to enhance warmer, moist air advecting into the area. Rain chances will still beextremely low tonight still. But dense fog will be possible overnight tonight into Monday morning, especially along the MS Coastal areas thanks in part to the lighter winds and higher dewpoints. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect tonight overnight through mid-morning tomorrow for the MS Coastal areas.

A cold front is expected to move through the area Monday. Southerly winds ahead of the front will help to advect some warm, moist air into the area. Looking at the models, this front will be mostly dry overall. PoPs are fairly low overall (20-30%) while the system moves through the area. Scattered showers will be possible as the frontal system moves through, but nothing strong/severe is expected. Winds will shift to be northerly Monday, bringing in colder and drier air to the region Monday through the rest of the week.
