1/8 – Comfortable Tonight with Showers and Storms Returning Friday
Meteorologist Sam Lucey has a look at your forecast
A wet and unsettled pattern will take hold through the end of the week, with multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected as early as tonight through Saturday. Storm chances increase Friday, with periods of steady rain and embedded thunderstorms possible through Friday night. Some storms could produce gusty winds, small hail, and even isolated spin-up tornadoes, as well as locally heavy rainfall, especially Friday afternoon and evening. The rain chance gradually tapers off on Saturday as a cold front moves through the region.
Behind the front, much cooler and drier air arrives for the second half of the weekend and early next week. Sunday will be breezy and noticeably cooler, with highs dropping into the upper 50s. Clearer skies and north winds will allow temperatures to fall into the 30s and 40s at night, with areas of frost possible late Monday night and early Tuesday. Dry, seasonably cool conditions are expected to continue into midweek, with temperatures slowly moderating by Wednesday and Thursday.
