1/16 – Jeff Vorick’s “Warmer & More Active Pattern” Monday Afternoon Forecast

Increased cloud coverage and warmer temperatures are present across South Mississippi. A warm front traversed our area this morning. With it, moisture is on the increase and temperatures will reach well into the 60s today. Temperatures will not drop significantly tonight with cloud cover helping to trap warmth.

There is a cold front that will be to our north today into tomorrow. There is a 20% chance of rain but a soaker is not expected. Clearing will take place during the second half of the day. Clouds will be on the increase again with the next system. It will provide for a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms Wednesday.

The best moisture and dynamics will be to our north and west. A line of thunderstorms will form ahead of the cold front Wednesday and move to its east. As it moves towards our area, the lack of daytime heating and instability in the atmosphere should keep further strengthening of the thunderstorms at bay. The activity will move through our area Thursday morning. Clearing will occur in rapid fashion following the passage of the cold front.
