09/15 – Steve’s Midday Forecast
Today’s Weather –
This morning, the influence of now-Tropical Depression Julia continues to wane across the southeastern states as that storm weakens off of the South Carolina coast. Likewise, to our west, there’s a westward-moving tropical wave off of the Texas coast that continues to move away from our Coast and will unceremoniously move inland without attaining Depression status.
With those systems out of the overall weather picture here, we’ll have a warmer-than-normal day today with high temps everywhere in the low- to mid-90s, though the humidity won’t really start piling back into the area until Friday, when our pattern gets modulated. That modulation will be to a retrograding trough of low pressure in the Gulf of Mexico moving back northward, bringing with it increasing moisture in the middle and lower levels. This will likely result in widespread rain and a few thunderstorms over the area Friday, Friday night, and especially early Saturday.
Rain chances begin to wane again on Sunday before we hit next week.
Then, the questions begin.
Will we receive a northern stream system in the area mid- or late-week next week?
Will said system make it far enough south to bring strong storms?
Will said system make it far enough south to modify our temperatures substantially?
We don’t know! But next week’s late-week weather might be interesting …
