09/06 – Steve’s Dryer Midday Weather

After the long Labor Day weekend, we’re heading back to work with a rather ‘standard’ summer-like day for south Mississippi. But, changes are coming and they’ll be here later today.

It starts with a little, weak back-door cold front that is working its way through the Mississippi coastal counties throughout the day today. Unlike zonal flow frontal systems that bring rain and storms, this little guy is working its way through from east to west and will bring a noticeable change in humidity. Watch through the day as the dew point will gradually fall from the mid-70s we have this morning down into the mid-60s by tomorrow.

Now, while that doesn’t seem like very much, it will decrease our relative humidity numbers from the near 100-percent this morning to in the 70% tomorrow morning. That’s much drier.

Of course, it’s not going to last long … dew points will return to higher values late this week, prelude to rain and thunderstorm chances this weekend.
