09/05 – Brantly’s “Rain Chances Increasing” Sunday Night Forecast
A cold front will approach from the northwest Monday morning with increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible over the western and northwestern portion of the area through late tonight. Coverage of showers and thunderstorms will increase considerably during the day Monday as the surface boundary pushes southward into the forecast area, and we will have rain chances increasing to 70-80% coverage over much of the region by Monday afternoon.
Otherwise, temperatures on Monday may trend slightly cooler with the increased cloud cover and precipitation, especially going into the afternoon. Highs may only range in the mid to upper 80s over our far northern areas, with readings from around 90-92 over central and southern portions of the region. Even so, high dewpoints in the mid to upper 70s will result in maximum heat index values up to 100-105 degrees over much of the area. We have issued another Heat Advisory for all but our far southern MS counties again Monday. For now, we have timed the advisory from 10 AM – 6 PM, but the higher heat indices may actually occur late morning into early afternoon before storm coverage increases.
