08/28 – Steve’s Sunday Evening Tropical Update

Tropical Depression Nine became official earlier this evening after having the attention of the world as Invest 99-L for the last week. While presentation of the storm on satellite is not all that impressive, nonetheless the Hurricane Hunters were able to find a closed low-level circulation.

Over the next couple of days, TD9 is going to perform a bit of atmosphere ballet, twirling off high pressure building over the southeast and Mississippi. As this happens, the path of the storm is expected to be turned back towards the Big Bend area of Florida.

Coastal Mississippi will be free to warm up this week and become excessively humid before next weekend brings a ‘seasonable’ cold front through the area, perhaps knocking down temperatures a few degrees.
