08/28 – Brantly’s “Wet Weather Continues” Friday Evening Forecast

Tonight, partly cloudy skies with a small chance for rain. Overnight lows should drop down to the mid-70s. Saturday, high temperatures should get up to the upper 80s with some areas even hitting 90 degrees, but it’s going to feel like it’s between 100 and 105. There’s about a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tomorrow afternoon that may help cool things down.

The land breeze at night and sea breeze during the day should be the main weather driver Saturday through Monday, enhanced a bit in integrity due to the tropical moisture lingering. Temperatures will likely be not too hot due to increase moisture content, generally in the mid to upper 80s before any rain cooling takes place. Lows overnight in the humid mid to upper 70s range each night.

In the tropics, we are tracking two tropical waves. A tropical wave located about 850 miles east of the Windward Islands is producing a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms. Some gradual development of this system is possible during the next several days while it moves westward at about 15 mph toward the eastern Caribbean islands. This wave has a 30 percent chance of development through 5 days.

Another tropical wave is located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean just west of the Cabo Verde Islands. The northern part of this wave, which should move rapidly westward over the central Atlantic during the next few days, is not forecast to develop as it is expected to remain in unfavorable environmental conditions. However, the southern part of the wave is expected to be nearly stationary south of the Cabo Verde Islands for the next several days, and some development of this system is possible early next week when it begins to move slowly westward over the eastern and central tropical Atlantic. This wave has a 40 percent chance of development through 5 days.
