Moss Point Police seeking suspect in aggravated assault case
Moss Point Police are searching for a man they said turned a verbal argument into a shooting.
According to a press release, officers investigated reports of gunfire about 10 p.m. Saturday in the area of Verlon Avenue. Officers found a man laying on the ground, struck multiple times by gunfire.
Officers rendered aid until medical personnel arrived. The victim, identified as Ladarius Thompson, 33, was taken to Singing River Hospital. He was critical.
The investigation led to the identity of the suspect, Samuel Williams Jr., 47. Moss Point Police said the motive was unclear, but it is known the two men argued when Williams produced a firearm and shot at least 18 times, striking the victim several times.
Police have an active warrant for Williams’ arrest for aggravated assault. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
