Dedication ceremony for North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School

The Harrison County School District held a dedication ceremony to celebrate the completion of the expansion and renovation of North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School.

Administrators, teachers, and staff cut the ribbon in celebration of the new updates and additions to North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School. After 18 months of work, the school is done and ready to welcome students. Harrison County School District Architect Marty Hardy said, “Shortly, after we got going, COVID played a big role in how it took longer to complete the project and it went further than what we wanted it to, but we got it finished before school started.”

North Gulfport Elementary and Middle School Principal Milton Ray says the updates and addition to the school will only enhance the students learning. “With all the unexpected coming into a new school year with new facilities and new amenities, I think that the students as well as teachers and parents are going to love some of the additions that are added and we will use that to enhance our education as well.”

Some of the renovations and additions to the school includes: “We have a new gymnasium for our elementary students, our K through 6. We have a new kindergarten wing with four classrooms.”

“We actually created a secure entrance, new principal’s office, new security for the gymnasium as well.”

One of the favorite additions to the classrooms is that students have the ability to write on the table without even getting in trouble. “I am so excited. Everything in new here is new. The tables are white board tables. We have our own bathrooms. The room is spacious.”
