Over in Ocean Springs this evening, the community gathered for some holiday cheer and even spent some time with old St. Nick.
Children and families strolled the grounds of the Mary C. for Ocean Springs’ tree lighting with Santa.
A line stretched in front of the building as families waited their turn for pictures with Santa, all while enjoying festive Christmas music, story time, and cookies and punch.
Mayor Shea Dobson says he’s glad the event was able to continue this year, even in a scaled back fashion due to COVID-19. “We’re always looking for ways to improve it and to build upon it. Obviously, we had to limit some stuff this year but that’ll just give us an opportunity to go bigger and better next year.”
The ceremony was a part of the city’s By Golly, Be Jolly holiday campaign.
