If you’re looking for a little holiday cheer this year, have no fear! Ocean Springs annual ‘Tree Lighting with Santa’ is almost here.
Weather permitting, the event will take place Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. on the grounds of the Mary C. Although there is the possibility that the event will be rained out and if that happens, the event will be postponed until Saturday. The chamber will be posting updates on their Facebook page.
At the tree lighting, there will be letter writing to the North Pole, cookies, and a visit from Santa. Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Cynthia Sutton said, “Santa arrives on the OS fire truck around 6:45 and he’ll be here to take pictures and listen to the wishes from all the little girls and boys. We do ask everyone to wear a mask and that includes the children taking pictures with Santa.”
The tree lighting ceremony kicks off the city’s ‘By Golly, Be Jolly’ campaign. This Friday and Saturday is the holiday open house where participating local businesses will have specials for shoppers this season.
If you spend $200 at local businesses, bring your receipt to the visitors center on Saturday and you’ll be entered to win prizes.
