It was a lovely day to take in the weather and the scenery and later this week you can check out the Gulfport Museum of History in the downtown area at the old Railroad Train Depot.
COVID forced the museum to shut down in March, just eight days after opening, but the downtown museum is back open to the public three days a week, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., but they’re hoping to expand their operations soon. Historical Society of Gulfport President Betty Shaw said, “We’d like to be opened more days a week-we really would, but we need some volunteers to come down. The only qualification you need is you do need to love history.”
Admission is free.
If you’d like to sign up to volunteer with the museum you can drop by Thursday through Saturday at their location at 1419 27th Avenue in Gulfport or visit www.gulfcoast.org.
