The Biloxi Veterans Affairs Medical Center is hosting a free drive-thru flu vaccine clinic to all eligible veterans.
The clinic started yesterday and will continue each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until further notice.
The National VA requested that this event go on this year to protect as many veterans as possible.
This year is the first year that the Biloxi VA will be hosting this clinic and they plan to keep it going until all their veterans are vaccinated.
The drive-thru clinic was installed to keep veterans and hospital staff safe during COVID. Registered Nurse Sarah Smith said, “We can still get our Veterans vaccinated without bringing contact in, unneeded contact into the facility bringing in a higher number of people just for a shot. That puts everyone at higher risk, the veterans and the staff.”
The VA is asking that veterans wear a short sleeve shirt to the drive and bring their VA I.D. with them.
