It’s not too late to begin furthering your education at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
After an overwhelming interest in their August courses, MGCCC has added additional classes for enrollment throughout the fall.
The first set of classes start September 21st with more classes available in October and November. These fall classes are 13 weeks, eight weeks, and four weeks in length.
At these centers, a counselor can sit down and talk with you about your future academic endeavors. MGCCC Executive Vice President of Student Services Dr. Phil Bonfanti said, “We’re opening up quite a number of courses in our general education that’s what we are seeing interest in and students can come to our student enrollment centers. They are our one stop shops. They can apply for admission. They can register for financial aid. We allow students to enroll all the way up to when class starts.”
If you’re over the age of 21, never attended college, or have been out of college for two years or longer, you can attend free classes. With MGCCC’s ‘Fresh Start Opportunity’ program, qualifying students can receive up to $800 toward the total cost of attendance or may choose to take one course for free. Dr. Bonfanti said, “Again, this is a way to get back to school, test it out, see if it’s right for you at no risk, at no financial risk to the student. It’s a great program and because of this program we’re seeing high demand and that’s why we’ve opened up September start classes.”
There is another program through the state available to qualifying students called ‘Complete 2 Compete.’ With this program you can receive up to $1,000 toward the cost of attendance and if combined with the fresh start opportunity it could cover your full tuition at MGCCC.
