While in quarantine now might be the best time to relax with a good book from your local library. Although all the libraries in Jackson and George counties are closed to the public, there are still ways you can satisfy your inner bookworm.

You can receive your favorite books or movies via curbside pickup at your local library. All you have to do is call the library or request materials online.

Services are available Monday through Thursday 12:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

If you cannot participate in curbside pickup, there is also a library by mail option available, giving you the option to mail materials to your home.

All of the library materials are sanitized and cleaned after use.

These services are free. All you need to participate is a library card. Pascagoula Library Branch Manager Angie Stewart said, “If you would like to get one of these amazing library cards, it’s your way to access all of these services for Jackson George Regional Library System. Call your local library branch and you can call Pascagoula, say that you would like a library card. We will ask you for your identification number and your address. We’ll give you a library card number and you’ll be ready to go! It is super simple probably only take five minutes.”

You can also go online to JGRLS.org to find library materials like e-books, magazines, and audiobooks 24/7. There are also many other resources that can assist you in learning a new language, practicing for standardized testing, or taking a wide-array of online classes such as pottery or cooking. Rex Bridges with Jackson County Libraries Public Relations said, “People are surprised with what we have online. We have 8 different subscription resources for downloadable materials, free classes in the database. People are surprised when they find out they’re like wow you have so much stuff and I tell them all you need is a library card.”
