Skies are starting off mostly clear along the Gulf Coast, but it won’t last for long. Looking a little to the south, isolated showers and storms continue to stream into the Gulf waters this morning.
Coverage of storms will increase over the Gulf throughout the late morning hours. Conditions appear favorable again this morning for waterspouts across the nearshore waters.
Muggy conditions will persist this morning. High temperatures will be slightly cooler in the upper 80s to around 90, but the heat index values will likely rise to between 98 and 105 degrees.
Heading into the afternoon, rain chances rise to around 60 percent by 2 p.m. as showers and thunderstorms fire up across the region. Some of the storms may produce heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, but the overall severe threat is low. Rain will finally start to taper just after sunset, which is at 8 p.m. this evening.
