Masks are now required in order to enter all City of Pascagoula buildings after a few city employees tested positive for COVID-19.
The employees that tested positive for the virus are currently self-isolating.
There was also a deep cleaning of the building that was infected and additional testing of other city employees is taking place.
Municipal court hearings scheduled for July 8th have been canceled and will be rescheduled at a later date. City of Pascagoula Public Information Officer Katarina Luketich said, “Well, you know, COVID-19 is prevalent in our community and that’s a fact that we can’t ignore and we’re going to have to learn how to deal with that on a daily basis. So, people need to take personal responsibility as well. If you are sick, stay home and do not go into public places. We are encouraging people to wear a mask. If you don’t need to come into city buildings, stay home. If you can conduct your business on the phone, do it that way.”
The Pascagoula Police Department is also closed to the public today for sanitization purposes.
